Sandy • Office Manager
I have been involved in the orthodontic profession for 34 years and have worked for Dr. Welmerink for 28 years. I started with Dr. Welmerink as a clinical assistant when he first started this practice and have held every job in the office at one time or other. As office manager, I am responsible for making sure the practice runs smoothly and that patients and parents are happy. I also make all the financial arrangements and work with the insurance companies to get the most out of your benefit plan for you. I am always available to answer questions about our practice and our policies. My hobbies are fishing, camping, watching my sons drag race and spoiling my four grandchildren. My husband and I have been married for 46 years. sandy@welmerinkorthodontics.com

My hobbies include cooking, knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery and decorating our home. I also like to fish with my husband Grant and our cocker spaniels Bella and Ruby, and we are huge UFC fans. megan@welmerinkorthodontics.com

Shirley - Lab Technician I joined Dr. Welmerink’s practice a year and a half ago. I am the Lab Technician for the office. I make all your retainers and appliances. I have been doing this for more than 29 years and love what I do. Knowing that I help keep your smiles beautiful makes me feel great. When I am out of the office, I enjoy spending time outdoors, gardening, camping and cooking. I also enjoy spending time with my daughter, son and grandchildren.

Linda Jo • Orthodontic Clinical Assistant
I have worked in pediatric and orthodontic dentistry for over 23 years. This is my 14th year with Dr. Welmerink. I have two amazing kids. My daughter is graduating from UNR in May 2010. She will be moving to New York City in August to start pharmacy school! My son is finishing his second year in college. I hope he continues his dream of school and baseball. I am very health oriented in my personal life and bring that dedication to work. I love to share my stories of training for marathons and all kinds of exercise in hopes of motivating others to be more active and healthy. I have run in nine marathons, two of those were the Boston Marathon, and I hope to do more. I also enjoy snow and water skiing and anything outdoors!
Cheryl • Orthodontic Clinical Assistant
I have worked for Dr. Welmerink for a total of 15 years, but in two shifts. I worked here from 1985-1995 then moved to Las Vegas, and when I returned to Sparks in 2005 I happily accepted Dr. Welmerink’s offer to come back to the practice. Working for Dr. Welmerink has always been so much fun and so fulfilling. I love interacting with our patients and having fun with them. Recently I have been helping with the clerical part of the practice as well and have learned even more about how we can make the orthodontic experience a positive one for our patients and their parents. One of the things I like best about working here is getting to know the patients and their families and making their experience in our office a pleasant and happy one.
I have three children of my own. My son Brian is a civil engineer in Las Vegas. My oldest daughter Nicole lives in Maryland and works as a juvenile law clerk in Annapolis. She is getting married this summer to Chase, a Navy Officer. My youngest daughter Megan is a junior at Reno High and swims competitively both with the school and on club teams in the off-season. When I am not watching Megan swim, or coaching swim team, I enjoy skiing, hiking and biking.
