Sandy • Office Manager
I have been involved in the orthodontic profession for 32 years and have worked for Dr. Welmerink for 26 years. I started with Dr. Welmerink as a clinical assistant when he first started this practice and have held every job in the office at one time or other. As office manager, I am responsible for making sure the practice runs smoothly and that patients and parents are happy. I also make all the financial arrangements and work with the insurance companies to get the most out of your benefit plan for you. I am always available to answer questions about our practice and our policies. My hobbies are fishing, camping, watching my sons drag race and spoiling my four grandchildren. My husband and I have been married for 44 years.

Di • Receptionist/ Appointment Coordinator
I have been working with Dr. Welmerink and the staff since January of 2005 as the appointment coordinator. During the last 3 1/2 years, I have seen the creation of many beautiful smiles for our adult and child patients. It is very rewarding to see the pride and self- confidence that a healthy and radiant smile can give to someone! My interests are walking, weights and softball. I also enjoy healthy cooking and eating, art/design, crafting and recycling. My husband Mark and I like to spend time outdoors whether it be camping at Lake Almanor or doing yard work. We also like seeing new movies and love spending time with our many children and grandson, (we like our cats too)!!

Linda Jo • Orthodontic Clinical Assistant
I have worked for orthodontists and pediatric dentists for 20 years. This is my 12th year with Dr. Welmerink. I am very health oriented in my personal life and bring that dedication to work. I love to share my stories of training for marathons, and even of carrying the Olympic torch, in the hopes of motivating others to be more active and healthy. I love running and have participated in many marathons including twice in the Boston Marathon. I also enjoy snow skiing and snowboarding. My son Cody will be starting college in the fall of 2008 with the dream of continuing to play baseball. My daughter Jessica will be a senior at UNR. After graduating she will go on to pharmacy school.

Teri • Orthodontic Clinical Assistant
I have been working in children’s dentistry for 18 years, the past 12 years with Dr. Welmerink. I enjoy motivating patients to take responsibility for their own treatment. I try to find new ways to encourage them and to teach them how to best care for themselves and their braces. Having three young daughters, Leslynn, Lauryn and Laney, gives me lots of insight in how children think and what methods work to actively engage them in their treatment. I am very aware that getting patients’ cooperation not only speeds treatment, but makes it more enjoyable for them. My true loves, besides my husband, Les, and my girls, are scrapbooking and stamping. I also enjoy watching my 3 girl’s rodeo.

Cheryl • Orthodontic Clinical Assistant
While I may be the new face among the chairside assistants to most of our patients, I am actually an “old-timer” here. I worked for Dr. Welmerink from 1985-1995, then moved to Las Vegas for ten years. When I returned to Sparks I was thrilled to accept Dr. Welmerink’s offer to return to my old job. This office was always a great place to work and has only gotten better while I have been gone. I especially like interacting with the patients. I have three children of my own. My son Brian works as a civil engineer for Perini building company in Las Vegas, my oldest daughter Nicole lives in Maryland, and my youngest daughter Megan is a sophomore at Reno High. When I am not watching Megan swim competitively I enjoy skiing, hiking and biking.
